Galin - Full Biography (see also:
Filmography)
Producer Mitchell
Galin is a veteran filmmaker with an extensive
filmography in both
television movies/specials and theatrical motion
pictures. Through his over 25-year career, he has
developed and/or overseen the production of 10
features, over 30 television productions, four
documentaries and two theatre productions.
Galin was formerly
a partner/owner in the New York based production
company New Amsterdam Entertainment. At NAE, he was
President and COO for six years. In 2000, Galin, a
Nashville resident, formed the Nashville-based
producing entity, On the Lam Productions,
subsequently renamed Epiphany Productions, LLC.
Epiphany was established to provide Galin a vehicle
to produce low budget (below $15m) independent-style
features and create new media projects. Epiphany
also serves projects similar to those Galin
developed and produced with both Laurel
Entertainment and New Amsterdam Entertainment.
Another asset of the company is its function as a
service organization to loan out Galin’s production
expertise.
Galin recently completed the production of the
feature film Apostles of Comedy which
was released in 2009. Currently Galin is in
post-production of the documentaries Will of
the People and Journey to Everest
as well as the first segment of the six-part
documentary series God's Children. He
has just commenced production of the documentary
mini-series Voices of Freedom, which
chronicles the relationship between the growth of
network news and the success of the Civil Rights
movement.
In 2008, Galin completed a pilot for a children’s
series, The Book of Adventure and
Dear Santa, an ABC Family Christmas
Special. This pilot project was produced in
Nashville, implementing one of Epiphany Productions’
strategic goals of designing long-form programming
that can be produced in the southeast under a more
cost-effective financial model. This strategy is
further enhanced when combined with the recent
passage of Tennessee and Georgia legislation that
provides superior film incentives.
Epiphany Productions is currently developing a
number of projects in both the music/live
performance and documentary arena. The film
Apostles of Comedy is the first
initiative of creating a comedy brand. Galin was
also one of the producers in the filming and
coordination of talent for Project Restore,
a Nashville-centric tsunami benefit
In addition to presiding over Epiphany Productions
projects, Galin has also served as managing
director, and is currently on the board of Kid Pan
Alley, a non-profit curriculum-based music
enrichment program that teaches grade school
children creative writing through a new and
innovative songwriting method. Kid Pan Alley’s
latest album, in collaboration with the Nashville
Chamber Orchestra and featuring guest stars such as
Amy Grant and Kix Brooks, has won the prestigious
Parent’s Choice Award in Music and 2005 National
Parenting Publications Gold Award. In 2007 Kid Pan
Alley began a pilot program Galin developed in
partnership with the Monroe Catrell Children’s
Hospital at Vanderbilt consisting of working with
children with serious illnesses.
